"A Few Funny War Stories" - SGT Leon J. Kukulka "A" Company

Here are two funny incidents I remember...

-----------

"We were checking out a small village after
the Germans left to see if anyone stayed behind. My
squad was split on both sides of the street to look at
the homes on the opposite side for it was better to
see the buildings across the street for us. As we
going along one of the men across the street called me
Coca Cola because he could not pronounce my name. A
voice from one of the buildings asked if my father
owned the Coco Cola company. "

-----------

"We were defending a bridge and had sand bags set
up to portect us. We also had a 50 cal. machine guns
and bazookas. It was at subdown when a nedic came into
our outpost and asked for me. I asked him what he
wanted and he said that my shots were behind and he
had been trying to find me for a few days. So after I
received the shots one of the guys at the other
outpost said = "Hey Sgt. now that you got shot you can
apply for a Purple Heart medal."
